the murano's do the grand canyon: part 1

we've been home for over a week & I have lots of other stuff to blog about but a vacation recap is a must for our family memories.
we left for az at 3:45am on thursday morning. we left super so that nolan would sleep a lot of the way there.

one perk of leaving so early is seeing the gorgeous sunrise!

we stopped in needles when he woke up at 7am and hung out a park to eat breakfast and get some of our energy out.

we went to the skywalk at the west rim of the grand canyon for our whole first day. we couldn't take any pictures but we got to walk on a glass bottom area over the grand canyon, it was amazing!
here's my men taking a look into the canyon

our view at lunch. seriously

ten on ten button

hi there

heyyy, kinda forgot i had a blog for a little while there :)
we are leaving on our first vacation as a family of three tomorrow morning. leaving at 3:30am to drive to the grand canyon for 5 days & coming home super late monday night. i'm packing and preparing but before we left I wanted to post a bit about a visit with my family in san jose.

my great aunt (my poppa's sister-in-law) passed away a couple weeks ago. she was in her early 80's and had suffered from alzheimers for quite a long time. i drove up to san jose with my parents and nolan last friday to celebrate her life and to be with our family and my sweet cousins who had lost their noni. when my nanny passed away 7 years ago I vividly remember them at her memorial comforting and loving us so it was so good to be with them in their loss.

living 6 hours away kinda stinks but so cherish our time with them and when we see each other it's as if we've never been apart. good family is like that!
it was awesome to have lots of aunts and cousins and friends to love on (aka chase & wrangle) nolan!

usually everytime we visit the boys go on a small hike/walk to a rope swing above a little creek. since marc wasn't with us i got to take nolan for the first time. here are a few images i captured.
ps. i absolutely love having a son!

.i am set free.

hi friends.
today I am so excited to share with you guys an amazing website and movement on social media
overcomethelie.org
facebook: Overcome The Lie
twitter: @OvercometheLie

overcome the lie seeks to empower women to overcome the lie because Jesus overcame the grave
take a sec to check them out, I have been so encouraged by their community and focus on building up women through truth in Jesus.

here's my little story.

i've been a believer for about 12 years and grew up in the church. growing up i embraced the love of God and his truth for my life. as i got older (mostly into my teen years) there was a small part of me that began to believe a lie about myself.

the lie only got bigger and before I knew it I believed it.

I believed that I was a slave to my sin & to this world & that who I was, just wasn't enough
this appeared in many ways

i sinned too much, i gossiped and lied and just wasn't obeying all that Jesus commanded
i felt that i wasn't pretty enough or thin enough
i'm not a good enough mom
i could be a way better wife
i don't do enough to help people
i often suck at loving others because i am selfish

all of those statements have one thing in common, they are all about me. every statement begins with i.
one day as i was reading my bible this verse popped out at me.

"it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery"
galations 5:1

faith in christ has made me new and set me free! yes, i still have shortcomings but christs wants me (and you) to live in freedom unburdened by the yoke of slavery. it is not his intent for the law to hold us down but to set us truly free.

free to accept that i am not enough but that with Christ I am redeemed & love & set free to do HIS good work and show HIS love to others around me.

we are women set free. let's use that freedom in our own lives and pass it on to others.
you are free.

the lovely ladies at overcome the lie have added this printable to their shop, inspired by my story.
head over there and check out all they have to offer.
